The Tootsie Pop Chronicles – Pt. Deux

OwlLast week we asked one of the deepest questions of life – “How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop!?”

I think the world may never know. 🙂

There’s a reason for all this tootsie-mania. Once you get past the hard outer shell of life we get to all the juicy, chocolaty goodness that is the sweet spot of the life God has designed you for.

Your sweet spot, simply put, is the life God intends for you. It’s being where He wants you to be, doing what He wants you to do and discovering the amazing adventure that living for Him is all about. Let me say it another way. Your sweet spot is that thing you do that always fills you up and never leaves you drained. It’s you, by the mercies of God, adding value to others, building a legacy that changes eternity and one day, at the end of your journey finding yourself at the steps of heaven hearing God say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

So what’s your sweet spot?

  • In order to find it first you’ve got to know where you’re going.
  • Next you’ve got to know where you are.
  • Finally you’ve got to decide how you’re going to get there.

Read Romans 12:1 – 2.

“Therefore, I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God to present your bodies to God a living and holy sacrifice which is your spiritual act of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what the will that God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Romans 12:1 – 2

In these two verses the end result of living our sweet spot is clearly identified. This is our destination.

In weeks to come we’ll enter these two verses into our lives like the destination point in a spiritual GPS system. Let me encourage you to try to memorize them. For now, reflect on the first few words, “Therefore, I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God.”

What do you imagine are the mercies of God in your life? How has God blessed you? Do you trust Jesus for the forgiveness of sins? If you can trust Him with that then certainly you can trust Him with so much more! Take a moment to thank Him for His mercies and ask Him to make clear to you the destination of your life. Ask Him to show you the way and give you the strength, wisdom and means to accomplish all He’s asked.

Sweet Spot
